Overview
Secure Shell AI is a personal SSH client that prioritizes your privacy and security. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to our servers. We do not have servers. Secure Shell AI runs entirely on your device.
Data We Collect
None. Secure Shell AI does not collect any data. There are no analytics, no crash reporting services, no usage tracking, and no advertising SDKs.
Data Stored on Your Device
Secure Shell AI stores the following data locally on your iPhone, protected by iOS security mechanisms:
- $Claude API Key — Stored in iOS Keychain (Secure Enclave). Used to authenticate requests to the Anthropic API. Never logged or displayed after initial entry.
- $SSH Credentials — Server hostnames, usernames, and connection details stored in iOS Keychain. Never transmitted to any third party.
- $SSH Private Keys — Encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. The encryption key is stored in iOS Keychain with biometric access control (Face ID / Touch ID required).
- $Server Profiles — Display names, icons, colors, and server context descriptions stored in UserDefaults (non-sensitive metadata only).
- $Saved Intents — Command shortcuts you create, stored in UserDefaults.
- $App Preferences — Theme, font size, timeout settings stored in UserDefaults.
Third-Party Services
Anthropic API (Claude AI)
When you use voice or text input to generate a shell command, your natural language input is sent to the Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com) over HTTPS/TLS. This is the only external network request Secure Shell AI makes besides your SSH connections.
- $Your API key is used for authentication
- $Only your natural language input is sent (e.g., "check disk space")
- $Command output from your servers is never sent to Anthropic
- $Server hostnames, IP addresses, and credentials are never sent to Anthropic
- $Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle API requests
SSH Connections
SSH connections are made directly from your device to your servers. No proxy, relay, or intermediary server is involved. All SSH traffic is encrypted end-to-end.
Speech Recognition
Secure Shell AI uses Apple's on-device Speech framework for voice input. Audio is processed locally on your device and is not sent to any external service.
Biometric Data
Secure Shell AI uses Face ID / Touch ID for app access control. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and the Secure Enclave. Secure Shell AI never accesses, stores, or transmits biometric data.
Data Sharing
Secure Shell AI does not share any data with third parties. There are no advertising partners, analytics providers, or data brokers.
Data Retention
All data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling Secure Shell AI removes all app data. Keychain items may persist after uninstall per iOS behavior — you can remove them manually via device settings.
Children's Privacy
Secure Shell AI is a developer utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
